From Prague to the Adriatic: Our First Project Hymer Croatia Road Trip

Our first major Croatian journey in the 2006 Hymer B 614 SL, from Prague through Bear Stone and the Adriatic coast before returning home.

Prague to Bear Stone Music Festival

The route began in Prague and continued to Bear Stone Music Festival, where the river valley and handmade stage made a memorable first stop.

Camp Adriatic — pitches and mobile homes

After the festival we continued south through Croatia, staying at Camp Adriatic before reaching the coast.

Camp Barinica

Camp Barinica gave us a beautiful Adriatic base and the hero view for this journey. The Hymer settled into coastal life quickly.

Beach Amadria Park Camping Trogir

At Beach Amadria Park Camping Trogir, a paid boat service ran directly from the campground to Trogir. That meant a proper day trip without moving or parking the Hymer. From Trogir, snorkeling and sightseeing boat trips also reached nearby islands and coastal locations.

Paklenica National Park and Starigrad

After hiking in Paklenica National Park, we returned to Starigrad and spent the evening beside the Adriatic before continuing toward Zadar.

Falkensteiner Camping Zadar

At Falkensteiner Camping Zadar, locals recommended Restaurant Bruschetta in Zadar city centre. The seafood was outstanding and made the city visit especially worthwhile.

Camping Straško

Camping Straško brought another waterfront setting and the Žirko human-connection story that stayed with us long after the pitch was packed away.

Valamar Camping Baška was part of the route, but we are intentionally keeping this section image-free rather than substituting another photograph.

Camping Kovačine and Cres

At Camping Kovačine we had a waterfront pitch, followed by time exploring Cres old town and its harbour.

Cres was a highlight for its harbour, old-town streets and the slower rhythm of island life.

Hotel Flanona

After Kovačine and Cres, we stopped at Hotel Flanona for a drink and food. The elevated Adriatic view was spectacular before we continued toward Veštar and Rovinj.

Camping Veštar gave us both sides of the story: an expensive and disappointing pitch for the value, followed by a memorable evening with Kirstin and Axel.

The people are the journey

The route back to Prague closed a first Croatian road trip full of contrast. Simple campsites can outperform expensive resort pitches, and the people met along the way can become the strongest memories.
